NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
A tragic accident in the Kultali block of South 24 Parganas claimed the life of a 52-year-old labourer after a bathroom roof collapsed on him while he was cleaning garbage. The incident took place on Saturday morning in the Ambikanagar Kela Piyali area under the Kundakhali Godavar region, leaving local residents shocked.
The deceased has been identified as Joydev Halder, who worked as a sanitation worker and earned his livelihood by cleaning bathrooms, drains and garbage in different houses and neighbourhoods. According to local sources, Halder had gone to the area as part of his routine work when the accident occurred.
While he was cleaning a space in the Ambikanagar Kela Piyali locality, a portion of the bathroom ceiling suddenly collapsed and fell directly on him. He was trapped under the debris and sustained serious injuries as the structure gave way unexpectedly.
Local residents rushed to the spot and managed to pull him out from under the debris. He was immediately taken to Joynagar–Kultali Rural Hospital in critical condition. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
